Save Ruby & The Rockits
On 09/11/09, Ruby star Alexa Vega announced on her twitter that the show has not been picked up for a second season: “Ruby didn’t get picked up
“
But this doesn’t have to be the end! Save Disney Shows was founded by Kim Possible fans that thought it was that wrong for a “soulless” company to arbitrarily end the show at 65 episodes. We where able to brink KP back by working together. And since then, Disney management has been much more responsive to the wishes of fans, but it’s only natural that problems still arise.
But the cancellation of Ruby & The Rockits has to be one of the biggest blunders of the Iger-era at Disney! Any show that brings together Alexa Vega and the Cassidy brothers has scores of untapped potential! There is no justification that warrens ending the series after showing just eight episodes!
Simply put, this cannot be allowed to stand. ABC Family can’t just produce ten episodes and just walk away, not only is it wrong to drop the fans once they’ve started to get invested in the show, it doesn’t make any business sense. What does ABC Family do with 10 episodes? It’s a waste of money not to order a second season.
I don’t know if there are enough fans to make a difference. ABC Family didn’t give the series much of a chance to acquire fans, but if every fan joins our movement, and shows the show to their friends that number will grow. And given the amazing success of the Save Kim Possible Campaign has made, I firmly believe that there’s nothing we can’t accomplish if we work together – starting right now!

I don’t know that I could support something of this caliber. If you want to “save” a show, you must have several things come together; the least of which is a well written dialogue about the reasons why you want the show saved and what you think you and the show’s fans can do to accomplish this.
I too believe that Ruby & The Rockits was not given a fair chance. However, there are some things that are not working in your favor in this missive. First of all, you MUST recognize that you will be dealing with a corporation and, as such, you MUST proofread things before you send them out to the general public. In your post above, there are several spelling and/or grammatical mistakes. If this were to go to the Disney corporation, you would be laughed at.
Second, the title of this website is “Save Disney Shows.” Please understand that, while Disney is the parent company of ABC Family, it is NOT a “Disney” show. Ruby & The Rockits was never shown on the Disney Channel and, to my knowledge, there has never been any cross promotion from/to either channel. If you want to hit the source responsible, you must go to ABC Family.
Third, while I understand your frustration at ABC Family for only producing 10 episodes of Ruby & The Rockits, you must understand the business side of television production. Ruby started out great, but lost A LOT of viewers in the coming weeks. When the production is costing more than what the corporation is making in advertising dollars, the show will be cancelled (i.e., less viewers = less people seeing the commercials = advertisers pulling out because their product is not being represented to their standards).
Finally, you must pull people in and have them actively participate in something (think of when the viewers of “Jericho” sent nuts to CBS to protest the cancellation of that show). I also was appalled at the fact that when I clicked on the link you have at the bottom of your post, that you give no ideas of what should be done to help save this show, you just repeat this post and then underneath (and, indeed in a banner running across the top) you are asking KIDS to send you money to fund this and other sites. That is simply deplorable. If you want to open up something with its own personal domain name, then YOU are the one who should be responsible for paying for said domain…not the people who are trying to save their shows. There are too many free websites that you can use to justify having people give you money to keep these domains open. To me, it just looked like a giant scam to get money.

Hi there! I think that saving Ruby & the Rockits is a GREAT idea! Please advise on how we go about doing so. Is there a petition to sign and circulate? I work for David Cassidy and would be happy to add a link to this petition on David’s website. Please send me the details and the link to the online petition ASAP.
Thanks,
Ashley
